The Maldives Police Service has released official crime statistics for June 2026, revealing that a total of 1,028 cases were reported nationwide. The data highlights that theft, drug-related offenses, and road accidents remain the most prevalent issues encountered by law enforcement across the archipelago.

According to the report, while overall figures for theft and traffic accidents saw a decline compared to May, drug-related cases experienced a concerning increase. Specifically, theft reports dropped from 338 in May to 319 in June, and road accidents decreased from 249 to 195 during the same period. Despite these reductions, drug-related offenses surged, marking them as a primary focus for authorities.

The Maldives Police Service noted that theft and robbery consistently rank as the most frequently recorded crimes each month. To combat these trends, the institution is conducting various public awareness programs aimed at crime prevention. Authorities continue to urge citizens to take proactive safety measures to protect personal property and ensure road safety to foster a more secure community.
