The Maldives has officially condemned the escalating attacks by Iran on Arab nations, alongside expressing profound concern over the widening conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking at a Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva today, Dr. Salma Rasheed, the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, voiced significant apprehension regarding the ongoing warfare in the region. She highlighted that Iran has been indiscriminately launching attacks on several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman.

Furthermore, Dr. Rasheed also denounced the attacks perpetrated by the United States and Israel against Iran. She issued a fervent call to the international community to exert pressure and actively work towards halting the current hostilities.

The conflict escalated following attacks initiated by Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28th. In retaliation, Iran has since mounted powerful strikes against Israel and American bases located across various Middle Eastern countries.

With no immediate end in sight, evidence suggests that the conflict is continuing to expand, threatening further instability in the already volatile region.
