Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has commenced an official visit to Egypt aimed at strengthening bilateral security relations and establishing a formal framework to combat cross-border crime.

The visit, which is scheduled to conclude on May 21, was organized through the initiative of the Maldivian Embassy in Egypt. According to the Maldives Police Service, the primary objective is the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize cooperation in maintaining public safety and reducing transnational criminal activities.

During his stay, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with the leadership of Egypt’s national security agencies. His itinerary also includes field visits to specialized rehabilitation centers and vocational training institutes designed to provide technical and practical expertise for police personnel.

The Maldives Police Service stated that this mission is expected to elevate the relationship between Egypt’s Ministry of Interior and Maldivian law enforcement to a new level, fostering long-term strategic benefits for the legal and security frameworks of both nations.
