The Maldivian government has announced plans to engage the private sector in the implementation of the “Maldives 2.0” roadmap, a strategic initiative designed to overhaul and strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure. This move aims to foster a more inclusive approach to digital transformation by integrating private-sector expertise and investment.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, in collaboration with Mindco and Maldives Digital Service, is preparing for a high-level consultative meeting. The session will focus specifically on the eighth pillar of the roadmap, which centers on the growth of the digital economy and the promotion of creative innovation within the ICT sector.

The upcoming consultations will bring together Digital Transformation Officers (DTOs) from various government ministries and key representatives from the private sector. The dialogue is intended to explore practical ways to increase private sector participation and to refine existing strategies within the roadmap to ensure they meet current market needs and global technological standards.

According to government officials, the overarching goal of Maldives 2.0 is to build a resilient digital economy. By aligning national strategic objectives with the innovation of private enterprises, the government seeks to create a sustainable ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders and accelerates the nation’s technological development.
