NEW DELHI — Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, Mishal Alshemali, underscored the robust and expanding relationship between Kuwait and India on Saturday while attending the 80th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence at the Presidential Palace in New Delhi.

Invited by Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Alshemali joined a distinguished gathering of senior Indian government officials, foreign ambassadors, diplomatic mission heads, prominent business executives, and cultural and social figures. During the ceremonies, the ambassador extended his heartfelt congratulations to the country’s leadership and citizens, praising the Indian people’s enduring journey toward freedom, economic progress, prosperity, and pluralism.

Alshemali emphasized the profound historical connections between the two nations, pointing to eras of humanitarian, cultural, and trade exchanges that flourished long before official diplomatic channels were formalized in the early 1960s. Noting that this year marks the 65th anniversary of those formal diplomatic relations, he highlighted the continued positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation across political, economic, and investment sectors.

Furthermore, the envoy commended the Indian expatriate community residing in Kuwait, describing them as an essential communication bridge that links the two friendly nations. Alshemali reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering commitment to bolstering the strategic Kuwaiti-Indian partnership championed by the leadership of both countries. He stressed the importance of enriching this alliance and propelling it toward broader horizons, rooted in mutual respect, to secure the shared interests of both nations and their peoples, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
