Two Arrested in Kulhudhuffushi City on Suspected Narcotics Charges

KULHUDHUFFUSHI CITY, Maldives – Two individuals have been arrested in Kulhudhuffushi City in connection with suspected narcotics. The arrests followed suspicions of possession, use, and trafficking of controlled substances.

The Maldives Police Service identified the suspects as Mohamed Shakir, 47, from Nasru, Hdh. Hanimaadhoo, and Mohamed Ibrahim, 38, from Moonreef, Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi. Police stated that both individuals were apprehended following a stop and search operation.

During the search, 13 rubber packets believed to contain suspected narcotics were reportedly discovered in the possession of Mohamed Ibrahim. Additionally, one rubber packet containing suspected narcotics was found on Mohamed Shakir.

Following their arrest, the suspects were presented before the court for remand proceedings. Mohamed Ibrahim was remanded for a period of seven days, while Mohamed Shakir was remanded for five days.

The case is currently under active investigation by the Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service.
