The Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) has officially opened applications for 67 diverse academic programs for its upcoming second semester. The announcement was made during an appearance on PSM’s ‘Raajje Miadhu’ program, where university officials detailed the extensive opportunities available for prospective students.
Dr. Aishath Sheena, Dean of the Kulliyyah of Education, emphasized that this intake provides a golden opportunity for A-Level graduates to pursue higher education without leaving their home islands. To facilitate this, the university has incorporated virtual classrooms and online sessions across various disciplines to ensure flexible learning environments.
The programs offered this semester include one PhD program and 15 Master’s level courses. Dr. Sheena specifically highlighted the ‘Master’s in Teaching Higher Education’ and ‘Master’s in Research Publication’ as vital pathways for those seeking to advance toward doctoral studies. Additionally, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, IUM has introduced a ‘Diploma in Special Education’ to address the shortage of qualified teachers for children with special needs.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohamed Solih, Assistant Professor at the Center for Research and Publication, introduced a new ‘Certificate Level 4 in Spiritual Intelligence Counseling.’ This program is designed to enhance mental and spiritual well-being through the lens of Islamic principles. The full list of offerings includes 16 Bachelor’s degrees, 11 Diplomas, and 22 Certificate programs, with application details available through the university’s official portal.
