MALÉ, Maldives – The Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has issued an appeal urging the public to refrain from non-essential visits to the hospital, citing a recent increase in cases of common cold, diarrhoea, and dengue fever.

Public Health Guidelines

In a statement released today, IGMH outlined several critical safety and precautionary measures for the public. These recommendations include wearing a mask when attending crowded places or visiting the hospital, particularly if experiencing cold symptoms. The hospital further stressed the importance of prioritising hygiene by washing hands thoroughly with soap or utilising hand sanitiser regularly.

Special attention was also urged for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, children, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.

Dengue Prevention Measures

Additionally, IGMH advised citizens to actively eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, such as areas where water can collect, and to implement supplementary measures to prevent mosquito bites. This initiative aims to curb the propagation of dengue fever within the community.

New Flu Clinic Established

To specifically address the rising incidence of fever and cold cases, IGMH has established a dedicated Flu Clinic. This facility provides doctor consultations and blood testing services, operating daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
