The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has officially appointed Hussain Shafeeq as the Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). The announcement, made today via a statement on social media platform X, confirmed that Shafeeq has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors and will serve as its Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.

The position at the state-owned enterprise became vacant following the resignation of the previous Managing Director, retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohamed Rishwan. Rishwan stepped down from both the board and his executive role on the 6th of this month.

Hussain Shafeeq’s appointment marks the third time the current administration has filled the Managing Director role at MPL, highlighting ongoing leadership adjustments within the nation’s primary port authority.
