Hussain Shaavin, 23, of Nalavaa/K. Guraidhoo, has been arrested and remanded for five days in connection with threatening a police officer on duty.

The Criminal Court confirmed the arrest in a statement issued today, outlining details from the remand order. According to the court order, Shaavin was taken into custody following an incident where he allegedly threatened a police officer while they were performing their official duties.

Court Order and Prior Record

The investigating officer involved in the case noted that Shaavin has a record of previous arrests and detentions. This history raised concerns regarding the potential for him to commit similar offences again.

Taking these factors into consideration, the Criminal Court subsequently ordered Shaavin’s detention for a period of five days.

Shaavin was previously arrested in April last year during a police operation conducted in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo, where he was found in possession of illicit drugs.
