The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure has announced an extension for the submission of applications for government-issued land plots and flats in the Greater Male’ area until June 15.

Originally set to expire at the end of May, the deadline was pushed back to accommodate challenges faced by the public in obtaining necessary documentation during the upcoming Eid-al-Adha holidays. Applications will now be accepted through the designated portal until 11:59 PM on the new closing date.

The Ministry stated that the decision follows reports of difficulties in securing verified documents while government offices remain closed for the festive period and many citizens travel. Additionally, the Ministry confirmed that its dedicated housing call center will resume operations on the Sunday following the holidays to assist the public.

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib recently highlighted the high level of public interest in the project. He noted that while over 20,000 applications have already been submitted, another 17,000 remain in the draft stage, bringing the expected total to approximately 37,000 submissions.

The "Housing for All" initiative, launched in November last year, is a cornerstone of the current administration’s urban policy. The program includes the allocation of 15,000 land plots across Rasmalé and the Male’ region, as well as 7,900 flats designated for residents of the capital city.
