High Court Justice Uz. Ibrahim Mahir has decided to retire from his position at his own request. The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has accepted his decision, confirming that he will officially step down on September 6.

Justice Mahir, who was sworn into the Maldives’ appellate court in September last year, is retiring after serving only eleven months in the post. As of now, state institutions have not disclosed the specific reasons behind his sudden departure from the bench.

With an extensive background in the Maldivian judiciary, Mahir began his judicial career at the Civil Court. Before his elevation to the High Court, he held the position of Chief Judge at the Family Court.
