Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has issued a strong warning against the dissemination of unverified and misleading health information on social media platforms. In an address marking World Health Day 2026, the Minister expressed deep concern over the rising trend of misinformation regarding medical treatments, vaccinations, and the promotion of alternative remedies over clinical medicine.

Minister Nazim described the spread of such unverified claims as highly irresponsible, noting that these actions could jeopardize individual and public health. He urged citizens to consult qualified medical experts and established health institutions when making decisions regarding their own well-being and that of their families. He reminded the public that the Maldives’ healthcare system is built upon rigorous scientific research and is managed by highly trained, capable professionals.

The Minister further highlighted that the significant milestones achieved by the Maldives in eradicating various diseases were made possible through public trust in medical science. He concluded his address by calling upon every individual to commit to healthier lifestyles, abandon harmful habits, and rely on evidence-based medical advice to ensure a healthier future for the nation.
