The Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works has been officially dissolved as part of a restructuring effort by the current administration to streamline government policies. The move comes amid a significant cabinet reshuffle where ten out of twenty ministers reportedly resigned from their posts yesterday.

Among those who resigned is Adam Shareef, who served as the Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works. Following the ministry’s dissolution, all public works responsibilities have been transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development. These functions were historically managed by the Housing Ministry prior to the creation of the now-dissolved entity.

The establishment of the Ministry of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works had previously faced public scrutiny. Critics argued that the ministry’s creation was redundant, as the Local Government Authority (LGA) already serves as the primary regulatory and oversight body for local councils.
