The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments has announced that construction of the new Quran Centre in Fuvahmulah City has reached 90% completion. The ministry confirmed that the project is currently in its final finishing stages.

Valued at MVR 12 million and funded by the state budget, the physical work for this project commenced following the awarding of the contract in March 2022. The facility is designed to modern standards to serve as a hub for Islamic education and community development.

The ground floor of the building is set to house a library, an auditorium, and a dedicated meeting room. The first floor will feature four classrooms and a prayer hall with a capacity to accommodate 30 worshippers simultaneously.

This initiative aligns with the government’s strategic policy to enhance religious awareness and foster a love for the Holy Quran among the youth. The administration aims to fulfill the presidential pledge of establishing branches of the Quran Centre across every inhabited island in the Maldives, with the Fuvahmulah facility representing a significant milestone in this nationwide effort.
