Saudi Arabia’s leading low-cost carrier, Flynas, has officially resumed its scheduled flight operations to Velana International Airport (VIA) today. The service connects Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport directly to the Maldives, marking a significant step in enhancing air connectivity between the two nations.

The airline is scheduled to operate three weekly flights on this route. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) noted that the resumption follows a temporary hiatus and is expected to cater to the growing demand from the Middle Eastern market, which remains a vital contributor to the Maldivian tourism sector.

The inaugural return flight was welcomed at VIA with a traditional water salute. Arriving and departing passengers were treated to a vibrant cultural reception featuring traditional Boduberu performances and were presented with special commemorative gifts to mark the occasion.

MACL continues its efforts to expand the number of international airlines operating to the Maldives. The company emphasized its commitment to strengthening the nation’s aviation industry and ensuring world-class service through strategic partnerships with global carriers.
