The first group of Maldivian pilgrims for this year’s Hajj season has arrived safely in Mecca and officially commenced their Umrah rituals. The Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited (MHCL) confirmed that all pilgrims are in good health and are receiving dedicated assistance from group representatives.

Before proceeding to the Masjid al-Haram, pilgrims were provided with essential religious guidance. Despite the significant crowds in the holy city, the corporation noted that the group is expected to complete their initial rituals and return to their accommodation by midday.

The arrival process was streamlined through the ‘Makkah Route’ initiative, which allowed the pilgrims to bypass standard immigration delays at the airport. Upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, they were transported directly to their hotels via bus. The group was received by the Maldivian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Sareer, and the Head of the Maldives Hajj Mission, Sheikh Imthiyaz Abbas.

Following a warm reception and efficient luggage handling, the pilgrims have settled into their rooms. The second group of Maldivian pilgrims is scheduled to depart for the holy land tomorrow to continue the 2026 Hajj operations.
