The Eid-al-Fitr celebration event that began yesterday evening in Malé will continue for two more days, officials have announced.

A large area spanning from Sultan Park to the Islamic Center grounds, Jumhooree Maidan, and the Official Jetty area was designated for the “Eid Evening” festivities yesterday. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) led the event, with police and various government companies also conducting activities throughout the designated area.

According to MNDF, the celebrations will continue today and tomorrow from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Yesterday’s event drew large crowds to the area. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajida Mohamed also visited the venue and greeted families in attendance.

As part of the Eid celebrations, a 30-minute drone show was held at the Hulhumalé Central Park last night, which also attracted numerous spectators.

The MNDF stated that the purpose of organizing such a large event in Malé for Eid is to bring families together in one place to celebrate this important Islamic occasion, strengthen social bonds, and provide a joyful Eid experience for children.
