Malé, Maldives – The Ministry of Economic Development has announced revised operating hours for retail shops and food and beverage establishments across the Maldives for the holy month of Ramadan.

According to an announcement made by the Ministry today, these new regulations will come into effect from tomorrow, specifying distinct schedules for different types of businesses in inhabited islands.

Retail and Food Service Timings Detailed

For general retail shops selling goods, extended hours will be permitted from 05:30 AM until 01:00 AM. This schedule will apply from tomorrow until the conclusion of the first six days of Ramadan.

Food and beverage service establishments on inhabited islands will also operate under extended hours. During the nights of Ramadan, these establishments are authorised to remain open from 05:30 PM until 03:00 AM.

Furthermore, specifically for the first six days of Ramadan, food and beverage outlets will be allowed to operate from 04:30 AM until 03:00 AM, accommodating pre-dawn meals (Suhoor) and evening meals (Iftar).
