The Elections Commission (EC) of the Maldives has announced that voters participating in tomorrow’s nationwide elections will be required to cast three separate ballot papers into designated boxes.

According to the Commission, tomorrow’s proceedings will encompass the Local Council Elections, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, and a public referendum. The referendum aims to gauge public opinion on whether the Presidential and Parliamentary elections should be held concurrently on the same day in the future.

The EC confirmed that each of the three votes must be cast separately into their respective ballot boxes. Polling stations across the country are scheduled to open at 8:00 AM and will remain open until 4:00 PM.

The official campaign period, which saw intense political activity throughout the Maldives, concluded at 6:00 PM today in accordance with the legal deadline. During the final hours of the campaign, thousands of supporters from various political parties held rallies across the islands to demonstrate support for their respective candidates in what is expected to be a highly competitive election cycle.
