The Elections Commission of Maldives (EC) has announced that 14 ballot boxes will be established for the second round of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026. The decision follows tie-vote results for several specific seats during the initial polling round.

Polling will take place across the affected islands and in Malé City to accommodate resident voters. Of the 14 boxes, six will be stationed in Malé. Additionally, two boxes each will be placed in HA. Kelaa, L. Maavah, and the Dhadimagu ward of Fuvahmulah City, while HDh. Nekurendhoo and B. Donfanu will each have one dedicated ballot box.

In the capital, the Elections Commission has designated specific schools as polling stations. Voters from Donfanu and Kelaa are to cast their ballots at Tajuddin School. Hiriya School will host voters from Maavah and Nekurendhoo, while Dharumavantha School has been assigned for voters from the Dhadimagu ward.

The run-off elections pertain to specific council seats in Donfanu and the women-reserved seat for the Dhadimagu constituency. Furthermore, elections will be held to elect the WDC President for Kelaa, as well as members for the Nekurendhoo and Maavah WDCs. Voting is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM, with official results expected to be released on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
