The Department of National Registration (DNR) has announced a tender to upgrade its 17-year-old service counters to modern standards. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the service environment for citizens seeking national identity card services.

According to an announcement made by the DNR, interested parties can obtain information and participate in the bidding process scheduled for August 31. The department aims to begin operations at the newly developed counters by the end of this year, ensuring a more aesthetically pleasing, modern, and convenient experience for the public.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that this project falls under the administration’s ‘Maldives 2.0’ vision. The objective is to modernize public services and ensure they are delivered efficiently and at a high standard. This move follows significant service expansions over the past two years, including the opening of DNR service centers in Hulhumalé Phase 1, Hulhumalé Phase 2, and Vilimalé.

In addition to local expansions, the DNR has decentralized its ID card printing services. Printing is now available across various atolls and islands, as well as internationally in Malaysia and Sri Lanka to better serve the Maldivian diaspora.
