The Maldives Criminal Court has ordered the remand of a 26-year-old Bangladeshi national, Md Babul, in connection with the theft of a significant sum of money and property damage.

Presiding over the case, the court mandated a 15-day detention period for the suspect. According to the court order, there is substantial evidence suggesting that Babul stole a large amount of cash, a portion of which is believed to have already been remitted overseas. The court cited a high risk of the suspect fleeing the jurisdiction as a primary reason for the extended detention.

The evidence presented against the suspect includes the complainant’s statement, testimony from police officers, and official investigative reports. Notably, the court order indicated that the suspect admitted to the allegations during the judicial proceedings.
