Auditor General Hussain Niyazy conducted an official inspection of the Thilafushi Waste Management Center today to evaluate the efficiency and transparency of current waste management operations.
Accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Environment and the Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO), the visit aimed to closely examine the systems and procedures utilized in waste and resource management. The delegation sought to gather detailed information on existing frameworks to ensure they meet national standards.
During the tour, the Auditor General also reviewed the progress of several ongoing infrastructure projects designed to modernize the island’s waste management capabilities. Officials briefed the delegation on the latest developments and timelines for these critical environmental projects.
The Ministry of Environment stated that it remains dedicated to strengthening services and establishing more accountable systems within the sector. This oversight is part of a broader national initiative to ensure the Maldives achieves its goal of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment through transparent governance.
