The Maldives Police Service has summoned Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, CEO of the local news outlet ‘Adhadhu,’ and its Editor, Hassan Mohamed, for questioning regarding a documentary involving President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The summons follows the President’s public announcement during a press conference on Sunday, where he declared his intention to pursue legal action against those responsible for producing a video report he characterized as defamatory and containing fabricated information.
Authorities conducted a search of the Adhadhu newsroom yesterday, reportedly seizing several items as part of the investigation. Sources confirm that both Fiyaz and Hassan have been ordered to present themselves at the police headquarters tomorrow morning at 09:00 AM. Furthermore, it has been reported that CEO Fiyaz’s passport has been withheld by the authorities.
President Muizzu has maintained that the documentary consists of absolute falsehoods and has assured the public that those involved will be brought before the law. This development follows previous controversies surrounding documentaries produced by the outlet during the presidential campaign period.
