The Criminal Court has ordered the detention of a 19-year-old male in connection with a violent assault involving a sharp weapon. The suspect, identified as Mohamed Shan Riswan of M. Sikura, Malé, was apprehended following an incident involving unauthorized entry and the use of a dangerous weapon.

During the remand hearing, the court ruled that the suspect shall remain in custody until the conclusion of his trial. To support the detention request, the prosecution submitted medical reports, CCTV footage, and intelligence reports as evidence of the suspect’s involvement in the crime.

The court’s order emphasized that releasing the individual would pose a significant threat to public safety. The Maldives Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
