Over 3,000 individuals have registered to participate in the auditions for the upcoming 38th National Quran Competition, marking a significant surge in interest for the annual event.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs confirmed that by the close of the registration period yesterday, a total of 3,053 applicants had signed up. The registration window, managed by the National Center for the Holy Quran, originally opened on May 3rd.

This year’s participation numbers represent a substantial increase compared to last year’s competition, which saw just over 1,000 contestants. Since 2023, the National Quran Competition has been fully funded and organized under the direct auspices of the government.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously highlighted the importance of the event, announcing a prestigious presidential scholarship for top achievers. Under this initiative, first-place winners will be eligible for government-sponsored scholarships to pursue higher education up to the PhD level in any country of their choice.
