The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided emergency assistance to 58 people following a severe fire that broke out at G. Funfalhuge in Malé late last night.

The fire, which originated on the fifth floor of the building located on Lonuziyaaraiy Magu, prompted an immediate response from the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service. Authorities established an evacuation center to accommodate displaced residents during the operation. According to emergency reports, 28 individuals were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation. Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) treated 25 patients, while ADK Hospital provided care for three others, including an infant.

The NDMA confirmed that it is currently providing temporary housing and food for families residing in the three apartments on the fifth floor, as well as those in other units where essential water services were disrupted due to damaged infrastructure. The incident was reported at approximately 10:49 PM, and firefighting teams successfully brought the blaze under full control by 11:48 PM.
