The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a White Alert spanning from Kaafu Atoll to Addu City, warning of deteriorating weather conditions across the central and southern regions of the archipelago.

The alert is in effect today from 09:30 to 15:30. According to the MET Office, these areas are expected to experience sustained wind speeds ranging between 19 and 24 miles per hour, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 miles per hour. Consequently, sea conditions are predicted to be significantly rough during this period.

Authorities, including the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), have urged maritime travelers to exercise extreme caution and strictly adhere to safety protocols. Officials have further advised against undertaking non-essential sea travel until the weather stabilizes and conditions improve.
