The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS), in collaboration with Hulhumalé Hospital, conducted a specialized medical camp today at Asseyri Prison to provide specialist healthcare to inmates and detainees.
During the camp, medical services were provided to 41 individuals seeking treatment for various ailments. The visiting team included specialists in internal medicine, orthopedics, and general surgery, who provided consultations and necessary medical advice to the participants.
According to MCS, the initiative aims to facilitate access to medical treatments not currently available through the prison’s internal health system by partnering with external healthcare providers. The camp also sought to provide timely solutions for those awaiting specialist consultations.
The Maldives Correctional Service further indicated that plans are underway to conduct similar medical outreach programs across other correctional facilities in the future.
