The Maldives Police Service has apprehended a 34-year-old male in Sh. Foakaidhoo following a targeted drug enforcement operation. The individual, identified as Shah Sulaiman of Gulzaaruge, Sh. Foakaidhoo, was taken into custody yesterday on suspicion of possession and use of illicit substances.

According to official police reports, the operation was conducted by Foakaidhoo police personnel near the island’s harbor area. Upon intercepting the suspect, officers observed him attempting to discard an object. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of four cellophane packets containing substances suspected to be narcotics.

The suspect was presented before the court to determine his remand status, where a 15-day detention period was mandated. The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the investigation into the matter is currently ongoing as they continue to tackle drug-related issues within the community.
