The Maldives Police Service has apprehended a 36-year-old male in Sh. Funadhoo following a targeted anti-narcotics operation conducted by the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence unit.

The suspect, identified as Husain Jameel of Sh. Milandhoo, was intercepted on a public street on March 29. Upon conducting a search of the suspect and his belongings, officers discovered 26 rubber packets containing substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

Following the arrest, the suspect was presented before the court to determine his remand status. The presiding judge ordered the individual to be held in custody for a period of 10 days to facilitate further investigation into the matter.

The Maldives Police Service is continuing its investigation as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and distribution within the atolls.
