The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced a significant restructuring of its administrative framework, effective today, aimed at enhancing organizational efficiency and service delivery.

Under the newly designed structure, key departments including intelligence, forensics, criminal investigations, operational support, technology, and training have been reorganized into specialized commands. The MPS stated that the transition process is currently underway, including the appointment of officers to new leadership roles and the implementation of updated administrative policies.

The new organizational hierarchy comprises several strategic units, including the Office of the Commissioner, the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, and the National Intelligence Service. Other notable divisions include Forensic Services, Central Investigations, Digital Data and Technology, and regional commands for Male’, Hulhumale’, and Northern and Southern districts.

According to the police, the primary objective of this overhaul is to strengthen inter-departmental synergy and ensure more rapid, effective results in law enforcement operations. By fostering closer cooperation between diverse sectors, the MPS aims to establish a more accessible and responsive policing system for the public.

Furthermore, the restructuring is designed to empower frontline officers and optimize the utilization of resources in response to the evolving security landscape of the Maldives.
