The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has officially commenced repair work on the northern side of the wooden jetty in Hulhumalé, following significant structural damage caused by a vessel collision. The incident occurred when a barge entering the Hulhumalé lagoon struck the jetty, causing substantial impact to its primary structural framework.

As a safety precaution, the northern section of the jetty has been closed to the public until the restoration is complete. Due to the high volume of daily commuters utilizing the facility, HDC emphasized that work is being expedited to minimize disruption and ensure the jetty is reopened as soon as possible.

The corporation has apologized for the inconvenience caused to the public during this maintenance period. HDC reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining public infrastructure and providing a safe, accessible environment for all Hulhumalé residents.
