The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has rescheduled its honorary parade, initially planned for today as part of the Independence Day celebrations, to Thursday, July 29th, following adverse weather conditions.

According to the MNDF, the parade will now take place in Hulhumale, commencing at 4:30 PM. The event will feature captivating performances by the military band at various key intersections throughout the city, offering the public an opportunity to witness the displays firsthand.

Despite the parade’s postponement, a vibrant drill display was successfully conducted last night. This event featured various units of the security forces alongside students from 15 different schools, showcasing high levels of discipline and coordination.

Independence Day festivities, particularly the joint military and student parades, remain among the most anticipated annual events in the Maldives. Traditionally, these route marches draw large crowds of families and spectators to the streets to celebrate the nation’s sovereignty.
