A total of 108 employees of Fenaka Corporation Limited have applied for voluntary resignation following the government’s initiative to streamline the workforce of state-owned enterprises. This update was confirmed by Fenaka’s Managing Director, Muahmmad Afif Hussain, during a recent program on the national radio station, Voice of Maldives.

The voluntary redundancy scheme was launched on June 7th, offering incentives for staff who choose to leave the company. Under this program, departing employees are eligible for a compensation package equivalent to four months of their basic salary.

Managing Director Hussain emphasized that the primary objective of this initiative is to optimize company resources and enhance the quality of services provided to the public. He highlighted the necessity of establishing fairness in the workplace, noting that it is unsustainable for some employees to maintain high workloads while others merely fulfill attendance requirements without contributing significantly.

This move is part of a broader strategy by the current administration to improve the efficiency and fiscal health of government companies by reducing administrative overhead and addressing overstaffing issues.
